HTD Size-PR LogoA roller-type furnace intended for spheroidizing annealing of bearing steel forgings will be operated in the Kielce plant of global bearing manufacturer NSK. The process line built around a roller-type furnace is intended for heat treatment of workpieces will be assembled into bearings to be used, for example, in the automotive sector.

The company received the same SECO/WARWICK furnace years ago, and the line featuring it has been operating in the NSK factory for seven years now. This type of equipment has technological roots in the U.S.

"We know that bearing production requires a huge amount of precision," said Piotr Skarbiński, VP in charge of this product segment at SECO/WARWICK Group. "The required metallographic structure can be achieved in the production process only with a strict and repeatable regime of a many-hour thermal process. That is why our production line intended for this purpose is based on full automation of processes. This enables the elimination of all errors resulting from the human factor."

A continuous line for controlled atmosphere brazing (CAB) of large-dimension battery coolers will be installed at the plant of a European manufacturer of heat exchangers. This purchase is consistent with continental trends to invest in building supply chains for the manufacture of electric vehicles.

This is the second year in a row that the client is ordering CAB line from SECO/WARWICK, the Polish sister company to SECO/VACUUM in North America; this current commission will be the widest CAB line that the supplier has ever built. Its usable dimensions will allow the customer to manufacture large-dimensioned vehicle battery coolers at a mass scale. The dynamic growth of battery sales involves the growth of sales of other parts such as battery coolers. They are manufactured using highly-specialized continuous lines for controlled atmosphere brazing.

"Globally, we sell more and more CAB lines, which prove well in this industry," said Piotr Skarbiński, vice president of Business Segment Aluminum Process and CAB at SECO/WARWICK. "Our equipment is operated not only in Europe, but also in Asia and North America."

Solvera Gawel Technology S.A. to Expand Heat Treat Process Line

HTD Size-PR LogoGlobal bolt manufacturer Solvera Gawel Technology S.A. (SGT) is expanding their heat treat process line with a contract to purchase an electrical belt conveyor unit (ATE) comprising an electrical mesh belt PTE furnace. The new line will be intended mostly for carbonitriding and hardening processes (under endothermic atmosphere enriched with methane and ammonia) and for washing and tempering of high-quality screws and other hardware manufactured near Rzeszów.

SECO/WARWICK, the parent company of a North American based furnace manufacturer received the order. This ATE is almost identical to the first line they delivered in 2017. An electrical belt conveyor unit is a device that is well-suited for the manufacture of small hardware that requires perfect repeatability, therefore, this is one most often selected by manufacturers of bolts and hardware, and by commercial hardening plants.

The dynamic growth of this manufacturer of hardware items such as wood, metal and plastic screws and their pursuit of expansion in the Western markets led SGT to expand operations.

“I am very glad about the very dynamic growth of Solvera Gawel Technology and that the company again selected SECO/WARWICK," expressed Piotr Skarbiński, vice president, the Aluminum Process and CAB products segment.

The ATE process line which will be delivered in 2022 to the Solvera Gawel Technology S.A. plant will be adapted for operating with endothermic atmosphere supplied from an external endothermic generator.

Heat Treat Expansion for Defense and Aviation

HTD Size-PR LogoIndian manufacturer in the defense and aviation sector TATA Advanced System Ltd. (TASL) will receive a solution heat treatment line. It is dedicated for the aviation industry and will meet the requirements of the latest aviation (AMS2750F) and material (AMS2770) standards.

This order, the third of its type from North American manufacturing parent company SECO/WARWICK to TASL, will be the largest production line for aircraft skins in the history of both companies. The equipment will be used for the production of aircraft skins, empennage and center-wings boxes. The line includes a rapid quench VertiQuench® electric furnace (drop-bottom type), mobile quenching tank, rinsing tank and additional equipment including a chiller and loading baskets.

The working zone of the furnace is L7500 x W3000 x H3000mm, with the capacity to process huge sheets of aluminum. Such a large working zone reduces the number of joints in the skin. The line, as designed, will meet the client's requirements, ensuring a guaranteed +/- 5°C load temperature uniformity, load cooling in either a polymer or a water quench, and will remove the polymer sediment remaining after quench. Additionally, the system can be used for artificial aging in the furnace.

Abhishek Paul, manager and head of supply chain management of TASL said, "The new line, apart from its size, will meet a number of guidelines that will allow us to produce the highest quality airplane components that will meet the expectations of our final customers - a vast portfolio of OEMs and Tier-1s in the aerospace and defense industry. We are also confident that [the company] will be able to meet the project timelines and handover the line well within our project timelines."

"For us," explains Piotr Skarbiński, vice president of the aluminum process and CAB business segments at the SECO/WARWICK Group, "this continued cooperation directly means that the client is satisfied with the quality and efficiency of [our] equipment, services and our partnership. We hope that this partnership will continue into the future."
