Automotive Manufacturing Corridor Expands

A contract to design and build a 1,500 lb/hr mesh belt furnace system for the austenitizing and molten salt quenching of unique components used in the manufacture of drivetrain systems has been awarded to Can-Eng Furnaces International Ltd.  Incorporating several technological advancements for continuous atmosphere processing of products requiring carbon diffusion and quenching via a molten salt system, known as austempering, the new system includes: automated bin-dumping loading, mesh belt atmosphere hardening, salt quenching, post quench washing and rinsing systems, mesh belt tempering oven, and an endothermic gas generator.

This was a custom engineering project integrating the customer’s focused needs with CAN-ENG’s continuous mesh belt heat treatment system technology. The project is scheduled to be commissioned early 2018 in Mexico’s centralized automotive manufacturing corridor. Global Fastener Company Orders Mesh Belt Heat Treatment System

A contract to design and supply a mesh belt heat treat system with a production capacity of 4,000 lb/hr of high quality automotive fasteners was recently awarded. CAN-ENG was entrusted with this contract from a new European based client. This system was chosen based on its proven reliability, efficiency, and soft-part-handling features. The new, high-volume fastener system features: an atmosphere controlled mesh belt hardening system, oil quench, post wash system, temper furnace, soluble oil system, bi-directional conveyor discharge, and CAN-ENG’s PETTM Level 2 SCADA system. By integrating CAN-ENG’s Level 2 Automation, the automotive supplier provides themselves access to vital tracking of their products’ status, detailed process data for continuous process improvements, comprehensive equipment diagnostics, cost analysis, & inventory management. The top-of-the-line system also utilizes Can-Eng’s Energy Reduction System (ERSTM), significantly reducing the energy requirements of the system.  The system is scheduled to be commissioned Q4 – 2017.

Light Weighting Automotive Suspension Component Manufacturer Expands Production

A leading North American manufacturer of forged aluminum suspension components recently awarded a contract to Can-Eng Furnaces International Limited. This project reflects a long list of recent projects involving Automotive Light Weighting initiates.  Automotive manufacturers continue to pressure supply partners in developing systems and components that deliver weight reduction benefits yielding reduced vehicle fuel consumption. The furnace system will be integrated into a completely automated forging cell expansion, with a sophisticated controls & part tracking system, for heating aluminum billets prior to forging of automotive suspension components. Can-Eng’s patented rotary hearth furnace technology was utilized in this application as it provided optimal part handling and temperature profile parameter flexibility within the smallest manufacturing floor space.  Can-Eng’s Rotary Furnace Systems continues to replace conventional in-line continuous belt style heating systems as they offer superior footprint, energy consumption and maintenance requirement benefits.

European Automotive Market Orders a Continuous T-7 Heat Treatment System

CAN-ENG Furnaces International Limited has been contracted by a European leader in the design and development of Light Weighting Thin Walled Automotive Structural Castings to design, manufacture and commission an automated T7 Heat Treatment System for the processing of high integrity aluminum automotive structural castings. CAN-ENG’s Design was chosen for this new facility as it offers inherent part handling features which reduce floor space requirements and energy consumption while providing predictable mechanical properties and dimensional stability of the casting.

CAN-ENG is a global expert in thermal processing solutions for high pressure die castings (HPDC) and aluminum automotive structural components. The high volume continuous line includes integrated handling systems connected to up/down stream processes. The T-7 system integrates robotic handling, Solution Furnace with CAN-ENG’s Precision Air Quench (PAQ TM) technology, artificial aging system and controls integrating Level II SCADA system. CAN-ENG’s PAQTM system integrates a unique combination of features that have been developed through continuous system improvements and modeling carried out in the over twenty similar systems commissioned in recent years. CAN-ENG’s PAQTM system uniformly delivers controlled quenching processes that provide repeatable and uniform mechanical properties and accurate dimensional results. The system is scheduled to be delivered and commissioned to the EU in third quarter of 2017.
