Three processing lines for annealing, pickling, decarburizing, flattening, and coating are advancing toward installation at a grain-oriented electrical steel production facility. The lines will support production of electrical steel used in power transformers and electrical transmission networks, helping meet growing demand for energy-efficient transformer technologies.
Tenova, a metals industry technology supplier, is providing the processing lines for JSW JFE Electrical Steel Pvt. Ltd. in India under a contract awarded in 2025. JSW Group also has a North American manufacturing presence through JSW Steel USA, which operates steelmaking facilities in Mingo Junction, Ohio, and Baytown, Texas.
The project includes annealing and pickling (APLTM), flattening and coating (FCLTM), and decarburizing and coating (DCLTM) lines. Together, the lines are designed to produce grain-oriented electrical steel with magnetic properties and reduced ore losses intended to improve the efficiency and reliability of power distribution systems.
The project follows Tenova’s ongoing work on two decarburizing coating lines at JSW JFE’s Nashik plant.
Engineering and project teams from JSW JFE and Tenova recently met in Bellary, India, for a detailed engineering workshop to review technical interfaces, align engineering activities, and confirm execution plans as the project moves forward.
