Bud Lyman represents the third generation of leadership at Eastern Metal Treating, where he currently served as the vice president of Operations and manages day-to-day operations of the company’s high-output continuous mesh belt austempering lines. His journey in the heat treat industry began during his school years, working part-time on the shop floor and learning the fundamentals of thermal processing from the ground up. Over 18 years, Bud has progressed through supervisory roles, gaining hands-on experience maintaining and repairing equipment.

Bud has completed a range of management, safety, quality, and heat treating courses, and consistently shares his knowledge with staff to improve performance and safety across the plant. His attention to detail and client-first mindset have earned him the respect of both colleagues and clients, especially when troubleshooting complex heat treating challenges.

Bud is set to further advance his leadership capabilities by joining the Metal Treating Institute’s YES Management Training Program in 2025. His steady presence and deep commitment to the industry mark him as a rising leader in the field.
