Yes! Self-nominations are welcome. You can also nominate a colleague, employee, manager, mentor, customer, or other professional who you believe is making an impact in the heat treat industry.
We encourage a high-quality, professional headshot whenever possible. Since selected honorees' photos will be featured across multiple platforms and media formats, we recommend a clear photo taken from the shoulders up, with good lighting and a professional appearance. The photo can be taken by a professional photographer or by someone using a phone or camera with a tripod.
We're looking for rising leaders and professionals who are making an impact in the heat treat industry. This can include contributions to their company, technical advancements, innovation, leadership, community involvement, education, mentorship, or the industry as a whole.
The nomination period is six weeks long. Following the close of nominations and the selection process, the 2027 40 Under 40 class will be publicly announced in our September 2027 Digital Edition.
Selected honorees receive recognition across Heat Treat Today's platforms, along with a 40 Under 40 certificate and lapel pin. Honorees' photos and biographies will also be featured in the September 2027 edition of Heat Treat Today and on the 40 Under 40 section of our website.

Yes! There is no limit to the number of qualified individuals you can nominate. We encourage you to nominate every rising leader you believe deserves recognition.
The more detail you can provide, the better. We encourage nominators to share specific examples of the nominee's accomplishments, leadership, innovation, contributions to the industry, and impact on others. Specific examples are especially helpful when explaining why the nominee stands out.
A professional headshot is encouraged, but don't let that stop you from submitting a nomination. A clear, high-resolution photo is preferred, and the Heat Treat Today team may follow up with selected honorees regarding their photo.
