Sankalp Kota is a principal engineer working in the R&D team at The Timken Company. He joined the company in Ohio after receiving a Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering from Drexel University. While Sankalp has been working at Timken for three years, he has eight years of experience as an R&D materials scientist in engineering ceramics processing, tribological coatings characterization and development, metal additive manufacturing, nanomaterials synthesis, and corrosion testing.

Several of Sankalp's accomplishments include 45 authored or coauthored published research articles, including "Reaction paths and microstructures of nickel and Ti2AlC mixtures hot pressed and annealed in the 1050–1350°C temperature range" (Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2020).

Over the years, he has exhibited an excellent work ethic and demonstrates exceptional project management through experimental creativity and sound engineering and data presentation abilities. Not only is he a leader at Timken and in the industry, but he also has served as Nicaragua project member with Engineers Without Borders USA — Philadelphia Professional Chapter and is currently an Executive Team Member (Cleveland Chapter) for SEWA International USA.
