With a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University, Anwelli Okpue is an involved project engineer with Gasbarre Thermal Processing Systems. Anwelli is involved in the broader engineering community through his work with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and ASM International. He is currently the chair of the SME Detroit Chapter 1 and has volunteered at events organized by the ASM Detroit Chapter.

In his role at Gasbarre, Anwelli is responsible for new capital equipment design. Since each project is a custom design, Anwelli works closely with both customers and vendors to ensure the final furnace design meets the customer's needs for operation and performance. During his eight years with Gasbarre, Anwelli has successfully completed numerous furnace design projects, including equipment for hardening, tempering, atmosphere processing, and parts washing. A 2019 graduate of the MTI YES Program, Anwelli took a lead role in developing new standards for combustion and piping system designs. Previously, Anwelli has been responsible for developing and implementing quality control inspections for the manufacturing operation.
