Aniket Maske – Heat Treat Today 40 Under 40

Name: Aniket Maske
Company: Automatic Spring Products Corporation
Position: Chief Metallurgist & Laboratory Manager
Aniket Maske joined Automatic Spring Products Corp. (ASPC) in 2017 as a quality engineer for their largest customer. Now, Aniket is chief metallurgist and laboratory manager and oversees ASPC's CMM, PPAP, and laboratory testing groups. Aniket previously worked as the manager for Heat Treat and Metallurgy, running eight in-line double temper ovens for a blade manufacturing company in New Jersey.

Using an in-house metallurgy lab, Aniket specializes in failure and fracture analysis. His heat treating experience includes case hardening conversion coating (phosphating), plating (electroless nickel-zinc plating with different sealants, chrome plating, GP plating, and many more), and designing unique recipes for heat treatment. These recipes have improved process flow and eliminated scrap.

Aniket is able to advise customers on heat treating processes based on part design and what process will produce the least amount of distortion as well as provide customers with detailed failure analysis reports.

Aniket has a Six Sigma Black Belt certification, as well as having vast experience with IATF 16949 implementation, CQI-9, and AMS2750. Aniket has a research book published by Springer Publication (Springer Briefs in Materials) called Thermoelectrics — Fundamentals, Material Selection, Properties, and Performance.

At Automatic Spring Products Corp., Aniket has significantly improved heat treating processes, and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, he has helped to provide long-term strategic planning, reducing customer complaints, improving customer relationships, and implementing corrective actions to improve processes. He has been an integral part in helping ASPC transition to the latest technology in heat treat controls and fuel injection which will result in significant gas savings and increased quality and control. Aniket has also helped improve preventative maintenance systems of the heat treating equipment at ASPC through continuous improvement efforts and education of the maintenance staff.

With nine years of heat treating experience, Aniket leads a team of quality engineers. Their successful track record of producing the parts that ASPC supplies as a tier one supplier to the automotive industry is outstanding. Aniket has helped ASPC to reduce process variation and to improve preventative maintenance activities to ensure overall compliance for multiple austempers and ovens.

A leader with an expansive knowledge, Aniket is a valuable resource for training team members to become more knowledgeable in the heat treat processes and to gain a basic understanding of machine operation (including the effects of time, temperature, dew point, and endothermic gas reactions) in heat treating all the various types of steel ASPC produces.
