A medical device and implant manufacturer in the Southeast USA recently received a vacuum furnace. The furnace will be used to age harden and anneal medical devices and implants.

The Model HFL-2018-2IQ Mentor® vacuum furnace by Solar Manufacturing features an all-metal insulated hot zone, a load weight capacity of up to 250 lbs., and a maximum operating temperature of 2400° F.

“We were awarded the project based on our relationship with Solar Atmospheres and our quick furnace delivery,” states Dan Insogna, southeast regional sales manager at Solar Manufacturing. “Together, we delivered the Mentor® furnace along with a water system, and a custom heat treat recipe for the medical grade components being processed. U.S. Aerospace and Medical Manufacturer Purchases 5 Vacuum Furnaces

An aerospace and medical part manufacturer in Southeast USA recently purchased 5 vacuum furnaces. They will be used primarily to sinter and stress relieve stainless steel components.

The furnaces were provided by Solar Manufacturing and are part of their Mentor® vacuum furnace series. The model HFL-2018-2IQ furnaces feature a graphite-insulated hot zone, a load weight capacity of up to 250 lbs, and maximum operating temperature of 2400° F.

“Our customer worked directly with our R&D team at our sister company, Solar Atmospheres,” states Dan Insogna, Southeast Regional Sales Manager for Solar Manufacturing. “The customer received a line of brand new Mentor® furnaces with their custom recipe preloaded and ready to go.”

Vacuum Furnace Delivered to Defense Industry Heat Treater

A Southeast USA heat treater in the defense industry recently acquired a vacuum furnace. It will be used to age harden precipitation hardened stainless steels and beryllium copper.

The Mentor® vacuum furnace is a model HFL-2018-2IQ, built by Solar Manufacturing. It features a graphite-insulated hot zone, a load weight capacity of up to 250 lbs., and a maximum operating temperature of 2400°F.

"We provided a complete turnkey solution," states Dan Insogna, Southeast Regional Sales Manager for Solar Manufacturing. Along with the furnace, the heat treater received "a water system, and the recipes for the heat treat cycles their materials require."

Tool and Die Industry Receives Vacuum Furnace

A vacuum furnace was recently shipped to a customer servicing the tool and die industry in Virginia. The Model HFL-2018-2IQ furnace features a graphite-insulated hot zone, a load weight capacity up to 250 lbs., and a maximum operating temperature of 2400°F. The furnace, called the Mentor®, is from Solar Manufacturing will be used for solution annealing, ageing, and brazing. It measures 12” wide x 12” high x 18” deep.

Medical, Additive Manufacturing Industries Acquire Two All-Metal Hot Zone Furnaces

Two all-metal hot zone furnaces were recently shipped to the medical and additive manufacturing industries. Solar Manufacturing created and shipped the Models HFL-3848-EQ and HFL-3836-EQ, both featuring metallic-insulated hot zones, a load weight capacity up to 2,000 lbs., and a maximum operating temperature of 2400° F. Measuring 24” wide x 24” high x 48” deep, and 24” wide x 24” high x 36” deep respectively, each furnace was designed with the SolarVac Polaris® Control System. The furnaces were shipped to a location in Tennessee.

GSU Purchases Furnace from PA Manufacturer

Georgia Southern University (GSU) in Statesboro, Georgia, recently purchased a horizontal front-loading vacuum furnace from a Pennsylvania based heat treat furnace manufacturer.

GSU plans to use Solar Manufacturing’s Mentor® furnace primarily for vacuum thermal processing research and development of various iron-based alloys, including additive manufactured parts.

The Mentor® includes a graphite shielded hot zone and heating elements, with a work zone size of 12″ wide x 12″ high x 18″ deep, and a weight capacity of 250 pounds. Solar Manufacturing reports that this furnace complies with aerospace specification AMS2750E to process in an argon or nitrogen atmosphere or in high vacuum in the 10-6 Torr range with a 6” Varian diffusion pump. The furnace incorporates a control system package with a large graphic touchscreen overview and can be programmed to control gas quench rate up to two bar pressure and achieve temperature uniformity up to 2400° F.
