Aluminum (Aluminium) Heat Treating
Aluminum heat treating is a broad category encompassing several types of heat treating processes, most if not all of which are dictated by applicable specifications. For example, aluminum is a common material used in the aerospace industry, and the principal specifications for aluminum heat treating are found in AMS 2770 (for wrought aluminum parts) and AMS 2771 (for alloy castings). All aluminum specifications have strict requirements that dictate procedures and recipes to be used for the heat treating process (e.g., temperature, time, quenching and refrigeration requirements).
